Our Organic Farming

Farming methods at Moondarra are based on the principles of organic agriculture, fully utilising organic and sustainable growing methods. These farming processes increase levels of organic matter in the soil and minimise energy usage and waste, which all have a positive effect in reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Our team is continually looking at ways to improve the production systems to protect and improve biodiversity and ensure sustainability on the farm.

Our fruit is certified by The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture (NASAA) and has been since 1991 (Certification No. 3142).
Look for organic

Certification

When buying anything organic, look for the organic certifying logo and the words “Certified Organic”. Organic farmers and processors are audited every year by a registered independent certifier to make sure they are complying with the National Standard for Organic and Biodynamic Produce. Without a certified organic logo, there is no guarantee that your purchase is truly organic.

Organic Agriculture

Organic agriculture is based on the four principles of health, ecology, fairness and care.
Health – health of ecosystems and organisms from microscopic soil life to the largest animal life, is sustained and enhanced.
Ecology – reuse, recycling and efficient management of materials and energy, creating an ecological balance in nature.
Fairness – equity, respect, justice and responsibility of the shared world, both among people and in their relations to other living things.
Care – protecting the health and well-being of current and future generations and the environment.

Definition

“Organic Agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic Agriculture combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved.”
